In Uganda we support the recovery and restoration of people affected by humanitarian crises and to cultivate and nurture resilience and build agency while establishing systems and partnerships to reduce the risk of future disasters. We work in 3 geographical locations in Uganda. In Northwestern Uganda in the Palorinya refugee settlement and Southwestern Uganda in the Nakivale Settlement and Nyakabande Transit centre.
About the Position:
IsraAID Uganda seeks to recruit one (1) Project Assistant to be based in Nakivale Refugee Settlement (Rubondo). The Project Assistant will support the implementation of child protection activities, with a specific focus on managing and overseeing all operations within the Child Friendly Space (CFS).
The role involves facilitating structured psychosocial support and recreational activities for children, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment, and monitoring the well-being of children attending the space. The Project Assistant will work closely with community workers and stakeholders to strengthen child protection mechanisms, support case identification and referrals, and ensure activities align with established child protection standards. The candidate is expected to have prior experience in implementing integrated projects across protection, WASH and Nutrition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all operations within the Child Friendly Space (CFS).
Provide technical support to community workers in relation to the well-being of the children
Provide immediate emotional support: Providing comfort and reassurance to children who may be experiencing fear, anxiety, or confusion due to their displacement.
Facilitating community PSS engagement sessions such as Psychological First Aid (PFA).
Lead in facilitating GPM+ sessions at the community level with regular consults from the line supervisor
Lead and work together with community workers, partners (CBOs) in creating protection awareness on CP, PSS, and GBV at the community level and report major community concerns raised during awareness with the line supervisor.
Conduct regular case follow-ups for cases identified by community workers at the child-friendly space (CFS)
Share activity monthly updates with the line supervisor
Schedule staff meeting: organise one-on-one weekly meetings with the community workers
Accurately record attendance of beneficiaries for each activity (CFS, PFA, GPM+, and Protection awareness) for each implementation; data has to be disaggregated by age and sex and type of activity.
Being aware of the referral pathways in place and service providers available in the operational area.
Appropriately identify cases of concern and report them to the line supervisor.
Deal with each and every case with maximum confidentiality and following the do no harm and best-interest principles.
Keep monitoring cases referred to other service providers until the case is closed.
Submit and file copies of completed and successful referrals to your line supervisor on a monthly basis. All referral booklets should be kept in the office where they can be accessed easily by the line supervisor.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration or any related field,
3 years of experience or more in Child Protection, Mental Health & Psychosocial Support.
Knowledge of the relevant procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines for a transit centre and Child Friendly Spaces is an added advantage.
Candidates must be proficient in at least 2 of the following languages: Kinyarwanda, Kinyabwisha, and Kiswahili
