Background
SoCha is recruiting qualified personnel to propose on a 20-month GIZ project in South Africa currently being procured using open competition. The position is contingent upon the award of the contract*.* If SoCha wins the bid, SoCha will hire the successful candidate for the life of the project.
The project will deliver evidence-informed, gender-relevant implementation of early violence prevention in South Africa with localized implementation and multi-stakeholder management. This will involve working intensively in three selected pilot sites: eThekwini Municipality (Kwa-Zulu Natal), Ekurhuleni Municipality (Gauteng), and Rustenburg (North-West Province). The project targets children aged 0-12 and their caregivers (parents, educators, social workers, etc.). The successful candidate will apply evidence-based cooperation models, engage local stakeholders, and align the project with the broader VPPIC initiative.

Site Coordinator with National Experience

Role Overview
The Site Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of activities at the local level in one of the three designated pilot sites. This role involves direct engagement with local stakeholders, facilitation of community-level activities, data collection, and ensuring adherence to project safeguards and gender measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee activities at the local level in one of the three sites.
- Engage with local stakeholders, including community leaders, government officials, and NGOs.
- Facilitate community workshops, meetings, and capacity-building sessions.
- Collect data, monitor, and report on project activities and outcomes.
- Actively participate and closely collaborate with project stakeholders, including joint strategy planning, coordinated activities, joint trainings, and workshops.
- Facilitate and support the management and identification of local subsidies for local organizations in the site.
- Adhere to safeguard and gender measures in project implementation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education/Training: University degree (e.g., Master’s or German Diploma) in social sciences, community development, education, violence prevention, gender studies, or security studies.
- Language: Excellent command of English (C2 level). Proficiency in at least one local South African language (e.g., isiZulu, isiXhosa, or others) relevant to the pilot site at C1 level.
- General Professional Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience working with development projects, with a focus in the field of social development.
- Specific Professional Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in early childhood development, gender-based violence prevention, or community-based interventions.
- Country/Regional Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in South Africa.
- Development Cooperation Experience: Not applicable, though experience in this area would be an asset.
