Position Summary
PC–Kenya is seeking a Business Development and Partnerships Officer to support the organization’s resource mobilisation and partnership efforts. The Officer will play a key role in identifying funding opportunities, coordinating proposal development processes, and maintaining relationships with donors and partners. Working closely with technical, finance, and leadership teams, the role will support the preparation of competitive proposals and contribute to strengthening the organization’s funding pipeline. This position is ideal for a motivated professional with experience in business development, proposal coordination, and donor research within the NGO or international development sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Donor Research & Prospecting
conduct research and analysis of funding opportunities from bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic, and private sector donors.
track and monitor funding opportunities relevant to pc kenya’s thematic priorities.
maintain and update a donor and opportunity pipeline database.
prepare short summaries of funding opportunities for internal review
2.Proposal Development and Quality Assurance
Support the proposal development process by coordinating inputs from technical, finance, and operations teams.
Assist in developing proposal outlines, timelines, and task trackers.
Coordinate proposal development meetings and ensure follow-up on action points.
Compile and format proposal documents, annexes, and supporting materials.
Ensure proposals comply with donor formatting and submission requirements.
Assist with assembling final proposal submissions and ensuring timely delivery.
3. Coordination and Communication
Facilitate communication among proposal team members, partners, and collaborators during proposal development.
Distribute proposal materials to technical teams and track completion of assigned tasks.
Coordinate meetings with internal teams and external partners related to business development initiatives.
Support preparation of meeting notes, presentations, and briefing materials.
4. Database and Knowledge Management
Maintain proposal development files and documentation.
Ensure accurate data entry and management of business development databases and tracking systems.
Archive proposal materials and maintain records of submissions and outcomes.
Support the preparation of reports on business development activities and proposal performance.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
Assist in organizing meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagement activities.
Support the preparation of briefing notes and materials for donor meetings.
Help identify potential partners and support coordination of partnership discussions.
Contribute to maintaining relationships with existing donors and collaborators.
6.Administrative and Operational Support
Support the development of tools, templates, and work processes for proposal development.
Assist finance teams in preparing basic budget templates and payment schedules for proposals.
Support post-submission follow-up activities including proposal tracking and documentation of donor feedback.
Perform other tasks related to business development and proposal coordination as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in business administration, International Relations, Development Studies, Public Health, or a related field.
3–5 years of relevant experience in business development, proposal coordination, donor research, or project support within an NGO, research institution, or development organization.
Experience supporting proposal development processes is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with international donors – bilateral, multilateral**, or foundations** is an advantage.
Experience in managing and mentoring teams in proposal development and donor compliance.
Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear and positive manner with clients, partners, and staff.
Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread and edit documents.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Legally authorized to work in Kenya
