National Director, World Vision Malawi Full Time

World Vision has been operating in Malawi for more than 38 years, working with communities, mothers, and children to improve health and nutrition, promote literacy, ensure safe living environments for children, and facilitate opportunities for the voices of children and communities to be heard. World Vision Malawi has an operating budget of approximately US $43 million and implements 33 Area Programs (APs) in 3 regions of the country. A total average of 97,750 Sponsored Children and 4.2 million children & adults are reached. World Vision Malawi has a total workforce of 460 employees excluding volunteers.

Here’s where you come in:

As the National Director, you will:

• Provide overall strategic and operational leadership to World Vision Malawi;
• Strategically lead, develop and direct the implementation of all aspects of World Vision Ministry in Malawi as an effective member of the Partnership in line with Twin Citizenship principles to ensure high Ministry quality and high impact on the field; Be accountable for all of the above;
• Ensure that World Vision’s ministry is directly contributing to the sustained well-being of children and the fulfilment of their rights within families and communities;
• Represent World Vision to all donors, project partners, other World Vision Partnership offices and divisions, local government, church representatives and non-governmental organizations serving according to given Power of Attorney.

Requirements include:

• Masters degree in international development, Social Science or related field.
• Minimum 3 years executive leadership experience in a large international organization.
• Requires at least 15 years’ experience in International NGO leadership.
• Experience of National Board development process.
• Previous National/Country Director experience is required.
• Prior governance experience is required.
• Proven experience in overseeing large Government grants, major private donors and/or complex multi-sectorial development and humanitarian programs.
• The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
