Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC) is an international non-governmental organization with offices around the world working to improve protection for civilians caught in conflict. CIVIC envisions a world in which no civilian is harmed in conflict. Our mission is to support communities affected by conflict in their quest for protection and to work with armed actors to strengthen their resolve and capacity to prevent and respond to civilian harm. About the Position
CIVIC has been operating across Sub-Saharan Africa for over a decade. Our portfolio comprises programming in the Sahel and Coastal West Africa, Nigeria, and East Africa. CIVIC aims to support conflict-affected civilians and civil society organizations by advancing communities’ self-protection and working with armed groups to prevent and respond to civilian harm. Through evidence-based advocacy work, we also reduce public tolerance for civilian harm and accelerate global policy and action for civilian protection.
CIVIC seeks a qualified and motivated Grants and Development Officer for our Africa and Middle East portfolio. S/he will be a highly valued member of CIVIC’s growing program team. In collaboration with the Program, Development, Advocacy, and Finance and Operations teams, the Officer will contribute to the following:
Key Functions
Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Africa and MENA Director, the Associate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with CIVIC’s grants, producing quality reports to donors, and supporting fundraising efforts.
Location: This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya and is only open to candidates with the right to work and reside in Kenya.
Travel: Up to 20% (local, regional, and international)
Reporting to: Program Director, Africa and MENA
Contract Type: Full-time
