Job Summary
The Medical Volunteer supports the delivery of primary healthcare services by assisting doctors and nurses with patient registration, organization, basic non-clinical tasks, crowd management, and general clinic or mobile team support. The role is essential in enabling medical staff to focus on patient care while ensuring smooth, respectful, and orderly service delivery.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Patient Registration and Organization
Support patient registration, including recording basic patient information and organizing patient queues.
Assist in managing patient flow to ensure orderly access to consultations.
Help identify priority cases (children, elderly, persons with disabilities) under the guidance of medical staff.
Logistical and Administrative Support
Assist with arrangement of medical supplies, furniture, and patient areas.
Support basic inventory checks and inform staff of low supplies.
Help maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas (non-clinical cleaning only).
Communication and Patient Guidance
Provide clear guidance to patients and caregivers on registration, waiting procedures, and service flow.
Support communication between patients and medical staff when needed.
Promote respectful behavior and calm interaction in waiting areas.
Documentation and Reporting Support
Assist with organizing patient registers, referral forms, and daily activity sheets.
Support collection of basic service data as instructed by the medical team.
Safeguarding and Conduct
Treat all patients with respect, dignity, and confidentiality.
Follow INARA’s safeguarding policies, code of conduct, and instructions from supervisors.
Immediately report any safeguarding, protection, or safety concerns.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Background or interest in health, nursing, medicine, public health, or humanitarian work preferred.
Previous volunteer or community service experience is an asset.
Ability to work in busy, high-pressure environments.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Respectful, patient-centered attitude and strong sense of responsibility.
Physically able to support setup and movement of materials when required.
