Bodmando’s technical services include Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, Policy, Strategy and Programme Design, Institutional Strengthening, Capacity Building and Development of Toolkits. Our research team is composed of multidisciplinary staff with a technical background in several thematic areas including 2 programme managers who oversee our global operational activities. Bodmando is sensitive to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion and in this regard, 60% of our staff are women, people with disabilities and other marginalized populations.
Research on VAW/VAC
As part of a joint research bid involving a consortium of institutions, Bodmando is seeking to engage a Kenya-based private consulting firm or independent research consultant to join a multidisciplinary team for a research study on violence against women (VAW) and violence against children (VAC). The consultant/firm will provide in-country research leadership in co-designing and delivering the study in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in joint planning meetings and contribute to overall study design.
- Adapt and contextualize research tools for use in Kenya.
- Lead ethical approval processes with relevant Kenyan institutions, if required.
- Recruit and train field researchers or enumerators as needed.
- Coordinate and implement data collection activities (qualitative and/or quantitative).
- Ensure adherence to safeguarding, confidentiality, and informed consent protocols.
- Conduct or support qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis.
- Participate in validation meetings and internal peer review processes.
- Support dissemination and stakeholder engagement within Kenya.
Minimum Requirements:
- Legally registered consulting firm or consultant based in Kenya.
- Minimum of 10 years’ demonstrable experience in VAW/VAC research.
- Proven ability to apply feminist, participatory, and intersectional methodologies.
- Deep understanding of ethical standards in conducting sensitive research.
- Ability to collaborate within a multi-institutional research consortium.
Preferred:
- Prior involvement in consortium-led or donor-funded research initiatives.
- Experience engaging with grassroots women’s rights and child protection actors.
