EDGE Auditor Services Consultant Full Time NEW

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is anchored on a fundamental vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. This vision has been the driving force in all of Habitat’s actions and activities and has seen HFHI helping more than 29 million people around the world build or improve the place they call home. To further fulfil this vision, Habitat for Humanity International established the Terwilliger Centre for Innovation in Shelter (Terwilliger Centre) to Build and Expand Inclusive Housing Markets by supporting local firms to innovate and expand client-responsive services and products.

Integrated Housing Support Project
This project in Mukima, Nanyuki promotes compressed stabilized blocks (CSBs) as a sustainable building solution. So far, about 60 youth and women have been trained to produce and install interlocking and non-interlocking stabilized soil blocks. Six demonstration houses have been built, with six more planned. These include teachers’ houses at Mukima Secondary School. Habitat for Humanity aims to secure EDGE certification for two of the teachers’ houses to showcase the benefits of incorporating green building strategies into low-cost housing. Each certified house will be 35m² with one bedroom, a lounge, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. Construction of these is set for July 2025 and should take 3–4 months.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review of designs and documentation prior to submission.
• Provide guidance on EDGE compliance gaps (if any) and recommend actions to meet certification thresholds, liaison with HFHI’s inhouse EDGE Expert.
• Perform design audit and submit audit findings to Sintali.
• Conduct construction (site) audit upon project completion and submit final verification report.
• Liaise with HFH, the design team, and the certifier to respond to queries and ensure timely submission of all required documentation.

Deliverables

• Reviewed and validated EDGE design model with feedback and recommendations.
• Completed design audit report submitted to certifier.
• Site visit report and construction audit report.
• Final EDGE audit certification package submitted to the certifier.

Duration: 7months starting from June 2025 to Dec 2025, covering design and construction phases

Consultancy Management: This assignment will be managed by the Construction Practices Manager with support from MEAL Manager.

Key qualifications.

• Certified EDGE Auditor accredited by Sintali or GBCI.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting EDGE audits for residential buildings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable construction practices focusing on water, material and energy efficiencies.
• Previous experience working on low-cost housing projects will be an added advantage
