1. Background and Context
CPCD is a global firm specializing in monitoring, evaluation, research, and consultancy. Established in 2018, we aim to create sustainable and long-lasting development for our clients, partners, and communities through evidence-based and data-driven solutions. By providing accountable programming, we strive to enhance transparency and accountability for our clients and their donors. We provide high-quality Assessments, Evaluations, Capacity Building, Third-Party Monitoring (TPM), research, and training services performed by seasoned and knowledgeable teams who specialize in complex conflict environments.
CPCD is currently engaged in multiple projects in Sudan to provide external evaluation services across targeted locations throughout the country. We are therefore seeking experienced, motivated, and culturally sensitive candidates to join our field teams.
2. Overall Objective of the Assignment
The primary objective is to collect high-quality, reliable, and verifiable data from targeted households, key informants, and focus group discussion participants in assigned locations, strictly adhering to ethical guidelines and protocols.
3. Positions Available
A) Field Coordinator (Focal Point)
Duty station: Field-based (100% travel within assigned locations)
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary focal point for field coordination in the assigned location(s), liaising with community leaders, local authorities, and relevant stakeholders (as appropriate and approved).
Coordinate daily movement plans and implementation schedules for field teams, ensuring smooth access and coverage of assigned areas.
Support operational and logistics arrangements in coordination with the Team Leader (team mobilization, access facilitation, field problem-solving).
Supervise field teams and ensure strict compliance with methodology, ethical standards (including PSEA and Do No Harm), and confidentiality requirements.
Monitor performance and quality through spot-checks, back-checks (as required), and daily review processes.
Submit daily progress updates to the Team Leader, including achievements, constraints, access limitations, and recommendations.
Ensure adherence to security protocols and immediately report any incidents, risks, or complaints.
Support referral pathways for urgent protection or humanitarian cases according to established procedures.
Conduct daily debriefings with the team and document field challenges and lessons learned.
B) Field Researcher (Data Collection)
Duty station: Field-based (100% travel within assigned locations)
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Assignment Preparation:
Participate fully in all mandatory training sessions on data collection tools, methodology, ethical guidelines (including PSEA and Do No Harm), and the use of digital data collection devices (e.g., Kobo Collect, ODK).
Thoroughly study and understand the questionnaires, consent forms, and referral pathways.
Conduct pilot testing of tools and provide feedback.
Field Data Collection:
Travel to assigned areas (payams, bomas, villages, or IDP sites) as per the daily work plan.
Identify and approach respondents respectfully and professionally.
Obtain informed consent from every respondent/participant before commencing any interview or discussion, clearly explaining purpose, confidentiality, and the right to refuse or withdraw.
Conduct high-quality data collection activities including structured interviews, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) according to approved protocols.
Ensure neutrality in questioning, avoid leading respondents, and probe appropriately for clarity where needed.
Conduct interviews/facilitation in a language participants are comfortable with (e.g., Juba Arabic, Dinka, Nuer, Bari, English).
Accurately record responses using digital devices (or paper forms if assigned).
Maintain daily productivity targets while ensuring data quality and respondent safety.
Data Quality, Ethics, and Reporting:
Perform daily checks of collected data/notes for completeness and consistency before submission.
Submit data and field notes daily to the Team Leader for review and upload.
Safeguard all devices, documents, and any personally identifiable information; maintain strict confidentiality.
Uphold the highest ethical standards including CHS, with zero tolerance for Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA).
Immediately report any incidents/complaints and refer urgent cases using the established referral system.
Participate in daily debriefings with the Team Leader on progress and challenges.
4. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential
Sudanese nationality, with strong knowledge of the local culture, customs, and languages of the duty station(s).
Minimum of a Diploma or equivalent in Social Sciences, Statistics, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field.
Proven experience (at least 1 year) in quantitative and/or qualitative data collection in humanitarian/development contexts in Sudan.
Fluency in English and the dominant local language(s) of the duty station is mandatory.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with vulnerable communities with empathy and respect.
Ability to work long field days, walk long distances where necessary, and adhere to a tight schedule.
Strong team player with high integrity and commitment to humanitarian principles.
Locations
Fieldwork will be conducted in the following states/areas in Sudan:
River Nile, Kassala, White Nile, Northern, Gedaref, Red Sea, North Darfur, South Darfur, and East Darfur.

Desirable
Prior experience working with CPCD (Crest Point) or other recognized companies/NGOs in the M&E field.
Experience collecting data in relevant sectors (e.g., Food Security & Livelihoods, WASH, Protection, Nutrition, etc.).
Understanding of basic sampling methodologies.
5. Working Conditions
Field-based positions requiring 100% travel within assigned locations.
Enumerators/field staff may be required to work in remote areas with basic living conditions.
The work may involve exposure to stressful situations and vulnerable individuals.
