About the Associate / Senior Associate role

Our Associates/Senior Associates are young professionals (1-6 years of experience) passionate about development challenges and causal impact. The Associate / Senior Associate role is an execution role on our research projects, under the supervision of a Manager, Project Director, and a technical team lead. Responsibilities are rich and varied, including preparing research plans, conducting advanced statistical and econometric analysis, coordinating fieldwork, and presenting our work to partners (governments, NGOs, technical and financial partners).

Examples of work led by our Associates:

• Joining a project team embedded within a partner government (e.g., Togo, Sierra Leone) to set up monitoring tools, analyze existing administrative data, conduct ad hoc studies on public programs and policies, or build stakeholder capacity by training client team members in quantitative research methods;
• Leading the creation of data visualization tools for a flagship cash transfer program in Malawi;
• Supporting the design (research protocol) and implementation of a randomized trial for a program aimed at school integration for out-of-school children in Liberia;
• Helping an NGO consortium build a menstrual health app for young women and girls in Senegal, by running Theory of Change workshops and developing a literature review on menstrual health programs;
• Supporting Morocco’s Initiative Nationale pour le Développement Humain (INDH) through primary data collected from 42,000 households and the integration of this data into a visualization and decision-support platform;
• Supervising a survey of 10,000 households (overseeing field enumerators) in a rural area of Nigeria as part of an impact evaluation of a vaccination coverage program;
• Contributing to communications outputs: producing articles and conference materials;
• Internal contributions: contributing to a proposal response; to office life and organizational culture, for example by facilitating weekly office meetings, participating in culture committee events, or engaging with thematic working groups.

Required qualifications

• Engineering degree or Master’s in Economics, Statistics, Political Science, Mathematics, Development, or an equivalent degree;
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills are essential;
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and data collection software such as Stata, SPSS, R, SurveyCTO and/or Open Data Kit or KoboToolBox;
• Up to 6 years of professional experience, ideally in an emerging country / Africa context;
• Knowledge of national languages (e.g., Arabic, Amazigh, Darija, Wolof, Pular, …) is an asset;
• Strong writing and communication skills;
• Ability to plan and execute work autonomously;
• Intellectual curiosity and passion for development issues;
• Excellent interpersonal skills: open-mindedness, team spirit, ability to handle the unexpected, sense of humor;
• Entrepreneurial attitude;
• The role requires frequent, extended travel, including to rural and remote areas.

Nice to have:

• Experience with large-scale household survey data collection (sampling, enumerator training/supervision, or survey firm coordination) is a plus, given some projects in the region involve significant field-based coverage surveys.
• Familiarity with malaria, nutrition, or public health program monitoring is an asset, though not required.
• French fluency is a plus, depending on project assignment.

Depending on their experience and qualifications, candidates may be considered for other positions.

Location and start date

IDInsight is always looking for exceptional talent to join our dynamic team. The position is based in Rabat, Morocco or Dakar, Senegal, with potential frequent, extended travel within the region and/or to other African countries depending on the project. The start date falls between October and December 2026, depending on candidate availability and preference and IDinsight’s project needs. Only candidates with legal authorization to work in Morocco or Senegal at the time of application will be considered.

À propos du rôle d’Associate / Senior Associate

Nos Associates/Senior Associates sont des jeunes professionnels (1-6 ans d’expérience) passionnés par les problématiques du développement et la question de l’impact causal.

• Le rôle d’Associate / Senior Associate est un rôle d’exécution de nos projets de recherche, sous la supervision du Manager, du Directeur de projet, et d’un référent de notre équipe technique.
• Les responsabilités sont riches et variées et comprennent la préparation du plan de recherche, les analyses statistiques et économétriques poussées, la coordination du travail d’enquête (terrain), et les interactions et présentations de nos travaux à nos partenaires (gouvernements, ONG, partenaires techniques et financiers).

Exemple de missions menées par nos Associates :

• Intégrer une équipe-projet au sein d’un gouvernement partenaire (exemples : Togo, Sierra Leone) pour mettre en place des outils de monitoring, analyser les données administratives existantes, réaliser des études ad hoc sur les programmes et politiques publiques, ou renforcer les capacités des parties prenantes à travers la formation des membres de l’équipe client aux méthodes de recherche quantitative ;
• Piloter la création des outils de visualisation des données pour le programme phare de transfert monétaire au Malawi ;
• Aider à la conception (protocole de recherche) et à la mise en œuvre d’un essai randomisé pour un programme visant l’intégration scolaire d’enfants jamais scolarisés au Libéria ;
• Aider un consortium d’ONGs à mettre en place une application sur la santé menstruelle pour les jeunes femmes et filles sénégalaises en menant des ateliers sur la Théorie du Changement du programme et en développant une revue de la littérature sur les programmes de santé menstruelle ;
• Appuyer la programmation de l’Initiative Nationale de Développement Humain (INDH) grâce à des données primaires collectées auprès de 42 000 ménages au Maroc et l’intégration de ces données dans une plateforme de visualisation et d’aide à la décision ;
• Superviser une enquête auprès de 10 000 ménages (supervision des agents de terrain) dans une zone rurale du Nigéria dans le cadre d’une étude d’impact d’un programme visant l’amélioration de la couverture vaccinale ;
• Contribuer aux outils communication : production d’articles et de support de communication pour des conférences ;
• Contributions internes : contribuer à une réponse à appel d’offres ; à la vie de chaque bureau et de la culture d’entreprise, par exemple en animant les réunions de bureau hebdomadaires, en participant aux événements du comité culturel ou en s’engageant auprès de groupes de travail thématiques.

Qualifications requises

• Diplôme d’Ingénieur ou Master en Economie, Statistiques, Sciences Politiques, Mathématiques, Développement, ou autre diplôme équivalent ;
• Le français niveau courant (C2) et une bonne pratique de l’anglais (C1) sont essentiels ;
• De fortes compétences analytiques et quantitatives sont essentielles ;
• Maîtrise des logiciels d’analyse statistique et de collecte de données, tels que Stata, SPSS, R, SurveyCTO et/ou Open Data Kit ou KoboTool Box ;
• Jusqu’à 6 ans d’expérience professionnelle, idéalement en pays émergent / Afrique ;
• La connaissance de langues nationales (i.e., Arabe, Amazighe, Darija, Wolof, Pular, …) est un atout ;
• Qualités rédactionnelles et de communication ;
• Capacité à planifier et à exécuter en autonomie ;
• Curiosité intellectuelle et passion pour les questions de développement ;
• Excellentes compétences interpersonnelles : ouverture d’esprit, esprit d’équipe, capacité à faire face à l’imprévu, sens de l’humour ;
• Attitude entrepreneuriale ;
• Le poste nécessite des déplacements fréquents et de longue durée, y compris dans des zones rurales et isolées.

Atout supplémentaire :

• Une expérience en collecte de données à grande échelle auprès des ménages (échantillonnage, formation/supervision d’enquêteurs, ou coordination avec des cabinets d’enquête) est un plus, certains projets de la région impliquant des enquêtes de couverture terrain de grande ampleur.
• Une connaissance des programmes de santé publique liés au paludisme, à la nutrition ou au suivi de programmes de santé est un atout, sans être requise.

En fonction de leur expérience et qualifications, les candidats pourront être considérés pour d’autres postes.

Lieu de travail et date de démarrage

IDInsight est toujours à la recherche de talents exceptionnels pour rejoindre notre équipe dynamique. Le poste est basé à Rabat, Maroc ou Dakar, Sénégal, avec de potentiels déplacements fréquents et de longue durée en région et/ou sur d’autres pays africains en fonction des projets.
La prise de poste se situe entre octobre et décembre 2026, en fonction de la disponibilité et des préférences des candidats et des besoins des projets IDinsight.
