Rate your Employer on Kaleta

Share your experience in complete anonymity and help transform the job market in your country and across Africa.

The African job market is dynamic, overflowing with exceptional talent, and attracting investments from around the globe. Yet, a gray area persists: the lack of transparency surrounding the reality of corporate life. Today, Kaleta is breaking that silence.
We are incredibly proud to announce the launch of our flagship feature: “Rate your Employer”, powered by our directory which has just crossed the historic milestone of 1,000 listed companies, NGOs, regional and international organizations!
But why is it so crucial to give employees a voice today, and how does this system work? Let us explain.

Why evaluate employers in the African context?

For too long, the balance of power on the continent has been one-sided. Candidates had to prove themselves, while companies relied on glossy corporate brochures. Here is why crowdsourcing (community reviews) changes the game:
  • Breaking the information asymmetry: In your country, as elsewhere on the continent, it is often difficult to know in advance if a company pays its employees on time, if the management is toxic, or if the promises for career growth are real. Your reviews provide a compass for future candidates.
  • Rewarding top performers to retain talent: The brain drain is not inevitable. By positively rating companies that respect their teams, we highlight the organizations that deserve to attract the best local and diaspora talent.
  • Driving continuous improvement: Constructive criticism forces organizations (whether multinationals, local startups, or NGOs) to reflect, improve working conditions, and align with international standards.

The 4 Pillars of Evaluation on Kaleta

To ensure fair, relevant, and useful reviews, we have structured our rating system around four fundamental criteria that define the quality of life at work:
1. Workspace 🏢
Does the organization give you the tools to succeed? This criterion evaluates the quality of the premises, safety, provided equipment, as well as the flexibility offered (remote work, hybrid work, flexible hours).
2. Remuneration & Benefits 💰
Is the salary fair, paid on time, and aligned with the local cost of living? This pillar also considers essential benefits: health insurance, bonuses, paid time off, and training opportunities.
3. Culture & Management 🤝
This is often why people stay or leave. Is the management supportive or do they micromanage? Does the company foster inclusion, diversity, and a good work-life balance?
4. Social Impact & CSR 🌍
Particularly crucial in Africa: does the organization have a positive impact on its local community? Whether it’s a company reducing its carbon footprint or an NGO whose field actions truly align with its mission, this pillar evaluates the organization’s ethics.

How does it work? (It’s 100% Anonymous 🕵️‍♂️)

We know that confidentiality is your top priority. That is why every review left on Kaleta is strictly anonymous. Your name will never be shared with your current or past employer.
To leave your review, the process takes less than 2 minutes:
  1. Search for your company among our 1,000+ profiles (use the search bar or filter by country/sector).
  2. Click on “View Profile” and award your stars based on our 4 criteria.
  3. Leave a written comment (the “Pros” and “Cons”) to guide the community.
💡 Are you part of an organization that isn’t in our 1,000 listings yet? No problem! You will find a “Can’t find your employer?” link under the directory to notify us in one click. We will add it the same day.
