The Inclusive Education Hub Coordinator for Africa (IE Hub) is a critical dynamic role responsible for driving the process towards achieving the SDG 4 by accelerating the development, implementation, and scaling of inclusive education initiatives across the African continent through the Community of Practice (CoP). The purpose of the IE Hub and the focus of the CoP is ensuring that children and youth with disabilities have equitable access to quality education and are supported to thrive in inclusive learning environments. The Coordinator will work with Civil Society Organisations, OPDs, NGOs, government representatives, academic institutions, educators, the private sector, international networks and other key stakeholders to promote disability inclusion, foster an inclusive culture in society, advocate for policy change and disability-inclusive education systems.

Your main responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Leadership and Vision: Provide overall leadership for the IE Hub and develop a regional strategy for disability-inclusive education aligned with global and African frameworks such as the CRPD and Agenda 2030. Develops annual work plans focused on advocacy, capacity building, and policy influence.
- Programme Development and Implementation: Support the design and implementation of programmes to enhance access to quality education for children and youth with disabilities. Ensure that initiatives are culturally appropriate and adapted to the diverse contexts across Africa.
- Partnerships and Networking: Build and maintain strong relationships with governments, OPDs, civil society, the private sector, academia, and international stakeholders. Promote collaboration to strengthen inclusive education practices across the continent.
- Advocacy and Policy Influence: Work with IE Hub members and stakeholders to influence inclusive education policies in line with international standards. Strengthen partners’ capacity to advocate effectively for disability-inclusive education.
- Capacity Building and Innovation: Coordinate training and professional development for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders on inclusive education and accessibility. Promote innovative practices, including digital technologies, to improve the quality of inclusive education.
- Fundraising and Resource Mobilisation: Identify funding opportunities and support members with proposal development and donor engagement. Manage budgets and ensure effective use of resources to meet programme goals.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning: Establish systems to monitor progress and share lessons learned, best practices, and policy recommendations. Enhance visibility of the Hub through digital platforms and promotes cross-sector collaboration to address intersecting barriers.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Inclusive/Special Needs Education, Disability Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in inclusive education, special needs education, or disability rights, with a focus on Africa.
- Proven experience working with diverse stakeholders including governments, NGOs, and international organisations on education and disability inclusion.
- Demonstrated success in implementing educational programmes focused on inclusion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with capacity to analyse complex contexts and support advocacy and planning.
- High self-motivation and ability to work under pressure in challenging environments.
- Proficiency in communication tools such as laptop, smartphone, MS Teams, and WhatsApp.
- Fluent in spoken and written English (as it is the corporate language).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in a relevant field.
- Familiarity with or proficiency in using social media platforms such as X (Twitter) and Facebook for advocacy or communication purposes.
- French and Arabic language skills.
