JOB PURPOSE:
The position holder will be responsible for Providing information and health education messages at the community level and strengthen the link between the community and INTERSOS and/or supported MOH health structures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collect and report to CHW Supervisor specific information related to his/her community: perception of the sickness, food security, vaccination status of children, perception of the services, constraints and strengths, vulnerability, level of information, living conditions and risks related
• Deliver information to his/her community on specific health topics and about INTERSOS and the services it provides
• Consolidate the link between his/her community and the INTERSOS services. Give advice on how to better involve his/her community in the activities of awareness and prevention; indicate possible local actors or local NGOs and community project which could be involved in awareness activities at a local level
• Support the mapping of the territory and population: schools, religious centres, villages, gathering points. Support and facilitate relations with local authorities of his/her community, where requested by the Supervisor. Support INTERSOS in the defaulter tracing activities
• Report to Supervisor progressing of activities, problems met, strengths and constraints.
Position Requirements:
Education:
• Diploma/Certificate in CHEW
• Minimum 2 year’s relevant work experience in the humanitarian sector especially in fragile and unstable environments
Professional experience:
• CHW training (done by MOH) is an asset
• Essential computer literacy
Professional requirements:
• Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
• Previous work experience in similar role is considered an asset
Personal requirements:
• Proactive attitude and well acceptance in the community
• Teamwork and cooperation
• Behavioural flexibility and Stress Management
• Commitment to INTERSOS principles
Languages:
• Knowledge and fluency in English and local languages (Hausa and Kanuri) will be an asset.
