The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is a global partnership launched in 2017 to accelerate the development of vaccines against emerging infectious diseases. With its headquarters in Oslo, Norway, CEPI brings together public, private, philanthropic, and civil society organizations to finance and coordinate the development of new vaccines to prevent future epidemics. Its mission is to ensure that vaccines are developed for high-risk pathogens and are available to all, especially in low-income countries.
CEPI’s strategic focus is on advancing vaccine candidates through clinical trials, establishing stockpiles, and ensuring equitable access to vaccines during outbreaks. It plays a critical role in global health security by investing in innovative technologies and platforms to rapidly respond to emerging threats. CEPI’s collaborative approach has positioned it as a key player in the global effort to prevent and control infectious disease outbreaks, particularly in Africa and other vulnerable regions.
CEPI operates globally, with a focus on ensuring vaccine access in low-income countries, including several in Africa.
CEPI funds vaccine development projects, supports clinical trials, and works on equitable vaccine distribution initiatives. It offers opportunities for collaboration with researchers and institutions worldwide.
CEPI has significantly contributed to the rapid development of vaccines for diseases like COVID-19, Ebola, and Lassa fever, enhancing global epidemic preparedness and response capabilities.
