Working together with like-minded stakeholders, complements our effort to ensure meaningful and effective participation of persons with disabilities, by removing barriers and creating enablers to realize their participation on an equal basis with others.

The Mental Health Leadership Programme (MHLP) is a regional programme that seeks to strengthen mental health leadership, coordination, and advocacy for mental health across Africa. Its overarching aim is to address the continent’s growing mental health challenges by empowering individuals, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Organizations of Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities (OPDs) to, provide accessible and quality mental health services, shape policies, and to implement inclusive, evidence-based programmes.

Funded by Wellcome Trust, MHLP contributes to the Africa CDC’s continental strategic priorities on Non-Communicable Diseases, injuries, and mental health, which provide coordinated framework for supporting member states in advancing public mental health. Through its Pillar 4, the programme strengthening networks, CSOs, people with lived experience and their representative organizations (OPDs). This work is being done by CBM Global in partnership with the Mental Health Innovation Network (MHIN), the Pan African Network of Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities (PANPPD), and other key stakeholders.

As part of this effort, there is an opportunity to leverage digital communication platforms to expand reach, facilitate knowledge exchange, and amplify lived experience of voices across the continent.
