AFRICA NATURE INVESTORS (ANI) FOUNDATION

Position: GIS Manager

Date: November 2021 – till date

 

Responsibilities

·       Administer ANI databases for data quality & service quality assessments. Perform backup and recovery of all databases. Ensure the security of the data.

·       Manage Earth Ranger database users. Update Earth Ranger database on a frequent basis. Support spatial data collection, cleaning, quality assurance and analyses.

·       Support field activities by the rangers and community liaison team for ground truthing of remote sensing analysis. Routinely update analysis and maps as required. Keep track of GPS coordinates of ANI activities and map them.

·       Work with Landsat imagery and utilize remote sensing to produce specialized pieces of work for a targeted audience and project reports. Produce maps and other geospatial materials for both internal and external communications.

·       Upload data from camera traps located around the park onto the Earth Ranger database and assist the research team with spatial data reporting.

·       Maintain and Manage ANI Website and ensure that project reports (quarterly reports, annual reports etc.) are uploaded on the website.

·       Develop and maintain Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework collating KPI data from rangers, research team and Community Liaison Team. Play a leadership role in ensuring timely and accurate data management and reporting.

·       Download data from GPS units collected from Rangers and Management staff, organize it and download it onto the software map of GGNP. Update all GPS units issued to staff and management with the additional information received from the field ensuring all the GPS are constantly up to date.
