The Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation (PCF) is a Swiss non-profit organisation working worldwide with the vision to create a world where children can learn and laugh in peace and freedom. PCF seeks to enhance inclusive and equitable quality education to promote sustainable development and living peacefully together in 12 different countries in Central America, South East Asia, East Africa and South East Europe. PCF is implementing projects through local and experienced partner organisations, which are responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the joint projects.
In Tanzania, PCF is working with two local partner organisations. The Southern Highland Participatory Organisation (SHIPO) implements the project “Boresha Elimu Mbozi” in Mbozi District (Songwe Region). This project aims to improve teaching quality and reduced absenteeism among the female and male teachers, performance of school management to maintain safe and gender friendly school environment and promote engagement of parents and community in the education process of their girls and boys. Community Aid and Social Education Empowerment (CASEE) implements the project “Elimu Sawa Kwa Wote” in the Arusha Region. The aim of the project is to promote the school quality teaching by empowering teachers, school management and committee by providing trainings, promote safe school environment and parents and community engagement in education.

2. Practical part
– Risk identification & contingency planning
>> Assessing risks in school settings (in a participatory way, encouraging ownership of government authorities, school staff, communities and students)
>>Developing contingency plans considering NDMS 2022-2027
– Embedding DRR in educational programs
>>Adapting DRR into curriculum & extracurricular activities
>>Linking DRR to ongoing PCF project activities (if possible including a field visit to a PCF project school for a hands-on school/ community scan to see how first level DRR measures can be integrated in current project activities
In order to determine the current knowledge and exact needs of the participants, an assessment questionnaire shall be developed and circulated by the facilitator upon provision of participants’ contacts. The results will inform the detailed planning and agenda of the training.
A follow-up exercise for the participants shall be part of the training package (participants go back to their respective work and apply their learning), the exact format is to be identified and agreed with the facilitator.
