The International Assistance department has opened a vacancy for a Project and Program Management delegate who will be responsible for supporting Sudan Red Crescent Society in the implementation of NLRC-supported projects.
Position title: Project and Program Management delegate, Sudan
Duty station: Port Sudan, Sudan at the commencement of the assignment. The duty station is expected to transition to Khartoum, Sudan, subject to operational requirements, security conditions, and organizational decisions.
Time period: 1 year, with possibility of extension

The International Assistance department is looking for a Project and Program Management delegate to manage Netherlands Red Cross supported projects in Sudan, with focus on Anticipatory Action, DRR, Climate Change Adaptation (CCA). The delegate will be responsible for supporting the Sudan Red Crescent Society (SRCS) in the implementation of Water at the Heart of Climate Action projects (funded by Dutch MoFA, Italian MoFA and UNDRR). In this role you will actively coordinate, and exchange information and ideas with the NLRC Country Representative and other NLRC staff to ensure overall coherence of the NLRC support to SRCS. This is a consortium project and you would need to coordinate and work together with Red Cross, UN partners and government departments and ministries. In addition, as a program manager this role supports the Country Representative with maintaining an oversight and ensuring alignment within the broader NLRC supported portfolio in Sudan.

We seek a candidate with strong project management and coordination skills, who enjoys teamwork and improving programme oversight. While technical expertise in Anticipatory Action, DRR, and CCA is a plus, it is not a requirement.
NLRC and SRCS have been working together since 1986 with a focus on WASH, community health, data, and disaster preparedness, anticipatory action and more recently localisation and digital transformation. Our overall aim is to support SRCS in strengthening community resilience in Sudan. Since April 2023 a conflict started in Sudan, with devastating impact: currently almost half of the population in Sudan is in need of support, whilst approx. 9million people have fled their homes (IDPs and refugees to neighbouring countries).
NLRC delegation is based in Port Sudan and exploring options to return back to Khartoum. NLRC works under the security umbrella of ICRC.
The NLRC Project and Programme Management Delegate is responsible for supporting SRCS with the implementation of the Water at the Heart Programme in Sudan, which consists of three interconnected sub-projects that together form the core portfolio of the role.
The Project and Programme Management Delegate is based in the NLRC delegation office in Sudan. The position sits within the Partnership Unit of the NLRC International Department and reports to the NLRC Country Representative. On technical matters related to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Anticipatory Action (AA), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), data transformation and WASH, the delegate works in close coordination with relevant departments within SRCS and NLRC technical units. The delegate represents NLRC to the other consortium members in the Water at the Heart program.
