About Ripple Effect
Established in 1988 (as Send a Cow), Ripple Effect is a dynamic and passionate international development charity on a mission to create a powerful and lasting impact. Our vision is to see a rural Africa that is confident, thriving, and sustainable, with a growing economy and higher living standards for all. At Ripple Effect, we’ve honed our focus on three critical areas: Sustainable Agriculture, Gender and Social Inclusion, and Enterprise Development. Through these pillars, we’re dedicated to combating poverty and nurturing a vibrant, thriving African landscape that will thrive for generations to come.
About the Role
The Communications & PR Manager leads Ripple Effect’s communications, media relations, brand and storytelling activities, strengthening the organisation’s reputation, visibility, influence and supporter engagement. Combining strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, the role is responsible for securing media coverage, managing external communications, overseeing brand and content production, and translating complex development work into compelling stories that inspire action.
Working closely with global fundraising, programme and leadership teams, the role will build relationships with media and key stakeholders, champion ethical storytelling, and lead communications campaigns that amplify community voices, raise awareness, strengthen partnerships and help generate sustainable funding to support Ripple Effect’s mission.
About You
Are you a skilled communications professional with a passion for storytelling, media relations and creating change?
Ripple Effect is seeking a Communications & PR Manager to lead our global communications, brand, storytelling and media engagement activities. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how our impact is shared, amplify the voices of farming communities across rural Africa, and strengthen our reputation with supporters, donors, partners and the media.
You’ll develop and deliver PR and communications strategies, build relationships with journalists and influencers, secure media coverage, lead integrated campaigns, and oversee the production of compelling stories and content that inspire action and help generate vital funding. You’ll also play a key role in brand leadership, reputation management, thought leadership and crisis communications.
We’re looking for an experienced communications, PR or journalism professional with strong media relations expertise, exceptional writing and storytelling skills, and experience managing and developing teams. You’ll be confident working across cultures and countries, collaborating with colleagues to deliver communications that drive awareness, influence and impact.
