Job Description
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Team Leader with strong international expertise to oversee the advisory services of a development cooperation project. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the coherence, quality, and impact of project activities across various thematic areas, including natural resource governance, conflict resolution, social cohesion, and food security.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership and Coordination
- Supervise the implementation of advisory services.
- Ensure alignment of the contractor’s services with local and national project activities.
Capacity Building
- Design, implement, monitor, and evaluate capacity development measures for local partners.
Cross-Cutting Themes
- Integrate and ensure focus on gender equality and other relevant themes.
Personnel Management
- Identify, plan, and manage short-term expert assignments within budget constraints.
- Guide and support local and international experts.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Establish and conduct monitoring procedures.
- Prepare and submit regular reports in accordance with deadlines.
Financial Supervision
- Monitor fund usage and plan finances in collaboration with GIZ’s commission manager.
Strategic Support
- Contribute to updating or adapting project strategies, evaluations, and preparation for subsequent phases.
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in social, political, or economic sciences.
Languages
- Proficiency in French (C1 level).
- Proficiency in English (C1 level).
Professional Experience
- General: At least 8 years of experience in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
- Specific: 5 years of experience in natural resource governance and/or food security.
- Management/Leadership: 3 years of experience managing teams of at least 5 people.
- International: At least 1 year of professional experience outside West Africa.
- Regional: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in West Africa.
- Development Cooperation: 4 years of experience in development cooperation projects.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate in diverse contexts.
- Demonstrated expertise in monitoring, evaluation, and capacity-building frameworks.
- Strong financial supervision and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven ability to integrate cross-cutting themes such as gender equality into project activities.
