The starting salary package for this position is £45,428 GBP / approx. $60,822 USD including all allowances.
About MAG
MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
About the role
Reporting to the Country Director, the Senior Programme Officer will lead and administrate grant management and donor liaison and partnership management across the South Sudan programme. You will work in collaboration with our programme team to coordinate and submit well-researched, high quality concept notes, proposals, and donor reports. You will support the pursuit of funding opportunities through donor liaison, partnerships, and networking. You will also be a key focal point for information management in the programme, developing and supporting implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) tools and ensuring the continual capacity building of our colleagues’ skills.
About you
Previous experience of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) and partnership management is a key requirement for this position. You will be an excellent communicator with an international relations or other relevant degree or commensurate experience. Successful candidates will also have significant experience of grants management, donor liaison, ideally within an international NGO. You will demonstrate strong writing skills and experience utilising these skills for proposal development. Experience living and working in humanitarian programmes is essential. Areas of operations are often remote with basic amenities, so you will need to be able to deal with living and working in challenging environments.
About the South Sudan programme
South Sudan is one of the youngest, poorest and least developed countries world-wide. The 2013 outbreak of hostilities has led to thousands of people being killed or wounded, and hundreds of thousands of people being displaced by the violence. MAG has been working in South Sudan since 2004, to clear landmines/unexploded ordnance and deliver mine risk education to at-risk populations.
