Request For Proposal To Provide Consultancy For Development Of A Child Friendly Child Safeguarding Policy And Mentorship Materials Consultancy NEW

1. Introduction:

Secours lslamique France (SIF) initiated started its operations in the Kenya/Somalia mission in 2012 and implements programmes in Education and Child Protection; Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL); Water, Hygiene & Sanitation (WASH); and Shelter and Settlements.

2. Background:

SIF is seeking the services of a qualified consultant to develop a child-friendly Child Safeguarding Policy and mentorship materials on life skills, tailored to the different developmental stages of children with a target location within Nairobi.

The Consultant will modify the existing Child Safeguarding Policy by incorporating simple language, visual aids, clear guidelines, accessible reporting procedures, and interactive elements, ensuring it remains both effective and aligned with its original intent.

3. Objectives:

The consultant is expected to attain the following objectives.

• Develop child friendly mentorship materials on life skills that align with children’s developmental stages.
• Modify the existing child safeguarding policy to make it child friendly by incorporating simple language, visual aids, clear guidelines, reporting procedures and interactive elements while retaining the policy’s integrity and effectiveness.

4. Scope of Work:

Developing a Child-Friendly Child Safeguarding Policy

• Simplify the language to ensure accessibility for children of different ages.
• Incorporate visual aids, infographics, and illustrations to enhance understanding.
• Provide clear, step-by-step guidelines and accessible reporting procedures.
• Integrate interactive elements, such as stories, role-playing scenarios, and child-friendly feedback mechanisms.
• Take into consideration different cultures, context and inclusion of children with special needs.

Development of Mentorship Materials on Life Skills

• Design structured mentorship materials addressing key life skills, tailored to different age groups.
• Ensure alignment with child development stages, covering emotional intelligence, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and resilience-building.
• Develop interactive activities and learning tools to enhance engagement.
• Include materials that can be used for training purposes.

5. Expected Outcomes:

• A child-friendly Child Safeguarding Policy with simplified language, visuals, and interactive elements.
• Age-appropriate mentorship materials on life skills, including materials for training purposes.
• All materials should be SIF Branded and original.

6.Duration of Work:

• Week 1: Review existing materials and conduct consultations with SIF representatives.
• Week 2: Draft the child-friendly policy and mentorship materials.
• Week 3: Conduct validation workshops and integrate feedback.
• Week 4: Finalize and submit deliverables by 7th April 2025.

7. Trainer’s Qualifications:

• A background in child protection, safeguarding, education, social work, or a related field.
• Proven experience in developing child-friendly policies and training materials.
• Strong understanding of child development and life skills mentorship.
• Ability to convey complex concepts in clear and concise language.
• Capacity to work with diverse stakeholders and incorporate their perspectives.
• Cultural Sensitivity, awareness of cultural nuances and their impact on child protection.
• Capability to assess risks and identify appropriate safeguards.
• Adaptability to tailor policies to meet the unique needs of different organizations or contexts.
• The consultant must pledge to comply with SIF’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.

8. Application Process:

Interested trainers or training organizations are requested to submit:

• A detailed proposal.
• Trainer’s CV highlighting relevant experience.
• The consultant should provide a detailed budget proposal, outlining the estimated costs for the consultancy fees. The budget should be submitted along with the proposal.

9. SIF Code of Conduct:

SIF applies a zero-tolerance principle to fraud, bribery, attempted fraud or acceptance of a bribe, corruption, money laundering, funding of terrorism, moral harassment, sexual harassment or abuse or violence of any kind whatsoever. This principle applies to all SIF stakeholders including consultants. This consultancy is subject to respect and commitment to SIF code conduct, Anti-Fraud/Anti-Corruption Policy, and Conflict of Interest Policy. Consultant are required to declare any conflict of Interest prior to start of the consultancy.

10. Intellectual Property Clause:

All information pertaining to Secours lslamique France that the Consultant may come into come with in the performance of his/her duties under the assignment shall remain the property of Secours lslamique France and shall not be shared with third parties without prior consent from Secours lslamique France. All necessary tools, equipment and materials required for the OSH training shall be provided by the Consultant. Secours lslamique France shall bear no liability for any damage to the Consultant’s equipment or personal injury experienced during the assignment.

11. Child Safeguarding Statement:

SIF commits to respect the “Do no harm” humanitarian principle and ensure child safety is paramount in all its activities. SIF implements a Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) at head office and for every mission. Therefore, we implement all necessary measures to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with vulnerable people, with children, engage with our organization. This consultancy is subject to respect and commitment to SIF Child Safeguarding Policy throughout the implementation period. We have zero tolerance for harmful practices and will take any allegation or report of child abuse very seriously.”
