The German Red Cross (GRC) is part of a worldwide community assisting victims of conflicts and disasters and people affected by social or health related crises. The Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement provides vulnerable people with assistance and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The German Red Cross assists in disaster response, rehabilitation and capacity building projects on appeals of their sister organisations within the Movement.
Together with the Moroccan Red Crescent Society (MRCS), GRC successfully implements programmes since 2012. The support to MRCS has been scaled-up after the devastating earthquake on September 8th, 2023. The relief and recovery operation in response to the earthquake is implemented with funding from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), GRC own funds and third-party funding. The current recovery phase is focusing on community-based interventions in the fields of DRR, health and WASH. Additionally, this programme is complemented with efforts of capacity strengthening measures for MRCS.
GRC is seeking a Field Coordinator (m/f/d) to be based in Chichaoua, Morocco. This position is seconded to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The Field Coordinator will support the implementation and coordination of the Movement (IFRC &PNSs) earthquake response in the province of Chichaoua. The Field Coordinator’s role is to support the implementation and coordination of the operation. The Field Coordinator effectively contributes to the assistance of vulnerable people through a movement-coordinated approach. The incumbent ensures that all activities are implemented following the accepted humanitarian standards, while promoting capacity building of the NS and actively pursuing community participation in the implementation of activities.
Based in Chichaoua, the Field Coordinator is supported by an experienced international team of delegates and local staff under the line-management of the GRC Head of Office. The duty station is greenlighted for accompanied posting.

Duration: 11 months with possible extension
Location: Chichaoua, with frequent travel to other regions of Morocco
Support NS and IFRC in management of operational activities:
Coordinate and liaise with internal and external partners in the assigned geographical area or operation component:
Work closely to support local branches of the NS in area of responsibility. Support the branch in building capacity where needed both in to carry out current operations and for long-term organizational development.
Continuously assess socio-political, humanitarian and security situations and gaps in area of responsibility. Report results regularly to IFRC team and NS counterparts to inform potential adjustments needed to ensure accuracy and quality of the planned intervention.
Host visitors, donors and delegations and provide operational updates as necessary.
Ensure staff safety and security by adhering to and communicating policies and regulations to all staff in the assigned geographical area. Serve as IFRC finance, admin and logistics focal point for IFRC in the hub area as needed.

We offer you a compensation package according to the collective employment agreement of the GRC, an expatriation allowance during your mission as well as an allowance to cover your accommodation. In addition to a full insurance package GRC is covering a home flight within a 12-months period of assignment.
