****PROGRAM BACKGROUND****
International Medical Corps began working in Cameroon in 2008 in response to an influx of Refugees from Central African Republic (CAR). We provide health, nutrition, HIV/ AIDS, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) programs in Djohong and Meiganga, and Tibati districts in the Adamaoua region of Cameroon. In response to cholera outbreaks in the Far North region of the country, we have also been implementing water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs. Nutrition programs are also implemented in the Far North. In the last year, International Medical Corps has expanded its operations to address the new influx of CAR refugees in the East region by providing GBV services. More recently International Medical Corps began providing health services to the Nigerian refugees in the North.
The Emergency Medical Coordinator’s primery responsibilities will be to manage the day-to-day activities of the Emergency Response Program in Minawao refugee camp and the additional camp that is expected to open; provide training to the health staff, provide medical expertise and guidance for the program staff, ensure regular and adequate drug supplies for all sites, monitor and evaluate medical activities; build strong working relationships with UNHC.
