The position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Location: Accra, Ghana, or remote within Africa · Type: Full-time · Reports to: CEO

You will own the Kaleta platform: its reliability, its security and where it goes next. You’ll lead the technical choices that let millions of Africans find work, in two languages and across borders.

What you’ll do

• Own the architecture, performance and security of the Kaleta platform (WordPress-based, with job board, payment and CRM integrations)
• Build and lead a small team of developers and freelancers
• Define the technical roadmap with the CEO and turn it into regular releases
• Deliver key features: recruiter dashboards, mobile money and card payments, multi-currency, bilingual experience
• Keep the platform fast, secure and available: hosting, CDN, backups, monitoring
• Manage tech vendors, tools and the technology budget

What you bring

• 6+ years in software development, including 2+ years leading a team or a product
• Strong experience with PHP/WordPress and modern web technologies (JavaScript, APIs, SQL)
• Hands-on experience with payment integrations, ideally mobile money
• Solid knowledge of web security, performance and cloud hosting
• Ability to choose between building, buying and integrating, with a start-up budget
• Good English; French is a plus

Nice to have: experience with job boards, marketplaces or SaaS products; experience with data, automation or AI tools.
