Functional responsibilities
The NDC In-Country Facilitator will serve as the NDC Partnership’s interface in the country and operate as a liaison between the country and other NDC Partnership members. The role is one of coordination, technical advisory, and supportive facilitation. He/she plays a key role in ensuring the smooth implementation of the Country Engagement Process, by supporting ongoing coordination efforts between the Support Unit of the NDC Partnership, the various partners of the Partnership, and the government of The Gambia.
The NDC In-Country Facilitator will be embedded in the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR) through the National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS). He/she will be responsible for strengthening national capacity, coordination for the NDC process, resource mobilization and monitoring the implementation of the NDC Implementation Plan. He/she will support the government Focal Point of the NDC Partnership in his daily tasks of implementing the NDC Implementation Plan and other forms of support towards NDC implementation.
The following responsibilities are part of the embedded facilitators role:
Coordination and communication with key stakeholders
Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0) update
Lead the operationalization of NDC Partnership Plan
Monitoring the progress of country engagement
Mobilization of resources for implementation
Organize and support NDC-related meetings as needed by the Focal Point
