The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes, from drylands to the humid tropics, enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today’s most pressing challenges, including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises. Over a combined total of 65 years, we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Using a multidisciplinary approach, we seek to improve lives and to protect and restore ecosystems. Our work focuses on innovative research, partnering for impact, and engaging with stakeholders on policies and practices to benefit people and the planet. Founded in 1993 and 1978, CIFOR and ICRAF are members of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.
ICRISAT is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill in the locally recruited position of Research Technicians at its ESA Regional Crop Improvement Station at ICRISAT-Kiboko and Alupe. Research Stations.
Provide support and assist Scientists to:
• Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a research institution and an understanding of plant breeding.
•Experience in a research environment, specifically in field layout, data analysis, and good crop husbandry practices.
•Sound interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
•Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
•Candidates with less experience but proven ability to deliver may be considered.
•Preferably having experience of working in multi-cultural and interdisciplinary teams.
•Experience in an international organization environment will be an added advantage.
•Practical experience in field experimental work.
•Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently and independently.
•Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
•Good interpersonal skills, integrity, honesty, and self-motivation
•Computer literacy in MS Office.
•Strong English language skills, both spoken and written.
•This is a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency commensurate with skills and experience.
•The initial appointment will be for 1 (one) year, with a six-month probationary period, with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
•The duty stations will be at ICRISAT’s Kiboko and Alupe Research Stations, Kenya.
