Egypt is the most populous country in the Middle East, and the third most populous on the African continent, with 95 million inhabitants (2017). At the same time, the country’s economy is one of the largest and most diversified in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and home to many of the region’s major corporations and High-Net-Worth-Individuals (HNWIs). Egypt therefore has significant potential to mobilize resources and leverage partnerships with the private sector to deliver results for every child. This is initially a one-year appointment which may be extended to two.

How can you make a difference?
Under the guidance of the Country Representative, the Fundraising Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, development and implementation of UNICEF Egypt’s private sector strategy in line with the global private sector strategic plan. The incumbent will drive revenue growth and oversee UNICEF Egypt’s efforts to leverage the influence of the business community to positively impact children.
Deliverables
By the end of this appointment, the incumbent will:
Develop an overall strategy and direct the achievement of ambitious revenue results from the private sector:
Conduct an in-depth mapping of the private sector in Egypt with focus on major donors and foundations, including the development of a prospect pipeline (based on giving motivations and connections) and customized fundraising strategies for each prospect.
Based on the mapping, develop a comprehensive private sector strategy, including target setting, and the development of a prospect pipeline and investment cases.
Design a coherent action plan to “moves manage” each prospect ensuring effective alignment with national, regional and global plans and priorities.
Establish and manage meaningful partnerships:
Identify, cultivate and steward relationships with high-value partners, including but not limited to major donors and foundations.
Initiate and lead fundraising efforts to generate support from the general public potentially via the following channels: digital, DRTV, direct marketing, telemarketing, etc.
Explore and pursue new and innovative fundraising approaches, e.g. Islamic giving, etc.
Manage engagement with key partners to mobilize and leverage their influence to accelerate the achievement of results for children.
Lead and manage the Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) Team:
Lead a high-performing PSFR team to achieve its annual targets ensuring the long-term sustainability of all fundraising and engagement activities.
Establish annual work plans, set budgets and monitor compliance within the UNICEF financial rules, policies and procedures.
Ensure efficient and effective management of human and financial resources allocated to the PSFR team, i.e. oversee budget implementation, ensure proper utilization and reporting of fundraising budgets and investment funds, in compliance with existing rules and regulations.
Oversee non-financial engagement with the business community to positively change its behavior and practices to impact children.
To qualify as a champion for every child you will have
Education:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Management or a related field.
Alternatively, a first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with qualifying experience and relevant background may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Knowledge of philanthropy would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of the Egypt context, in particular for partnerships and resource mobilization would be considered an asset.
Experience:
Minimum eight years of professional work experience with progressively increasing responsibilities, including at least three years in private sector fundraising and partnerships.
International fundraising experience is an asset.
Previous managerial experience is an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset.
