Motivation L

I would like to express my interest in development project positions, which could fit very well with my experience and career interest as mentioned below:

I have completed a Master Degree in International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid in June 2015 as well as a Bachelor degree in Library Science in June 2004. I have also followed several courses which have provided me with important tools to be able to work in a team and manage projects in a timely and efficient such as:  basic training on Procurement, Introduction to Results Based Management, Permaculture Design Certification Course, Protection Learning Programme, Action against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence/ An Updated Strategy, Processing and Analysis of Data for Surveys/ Assessments (Methodology & Software) …etc. Furthermore, my ability to speak fluently Arabic, English, French, has undoubtedly contributed to a better and faster integration within multicultural environment.

My present and past field experience is rich in terms projects management including needs assessment, project proposals, monitoring & evaluation of projects and activities, community development interventions, response strategies development and capacity building. My work experience with IOM has seen me plan, implement, evaluate and report on programmes that provide both immediate relief and sustainable local development. I have overseen the coordination of project, provision of logistical and technical support, and the preparation of concept notes and proposals. This role has also involved collecting and analysing data on the impact and effectiveness of our programs on targeted populations communities, as well as ensuring compliance in every aspect of our program delivery. It has also given me knowledge and perspective in humanitarian situations, and an understanding of the importance of developing sustainable community development programs.

In the course of my work experience with IOM Algeria, I have acquired extensive expertise and experience on the issue of migration and health which constitutes today one of the main areas of assistance to the Ministry of Health in Algeria. Since July 2017, I have contributed in the implementation of projects activities related to capacity building of public, private and community health providers, to provide STI/HIV/AIDS services based on the needs of targeted migrant and mobile population, while working to improve awareness, guidance and support. Moreover, a study is in progress among targeted migrant and mobile populations in order to establish their health profiles and assess their vulnerability to STI’s/HIV/AIDS.

In my consultancy as Program Assistant at UNFPA/Algeria, project development planning has been an important component of my duties. I have played part in the implementation of UNFPA/activities that have focused in integrating family planning in primary health care, expanding reproductive health services to meet the needs of all segments of the population, and promoting services like screening for women cancers.

I have contributed also in to the achievement of results by the initial research, analysis and effective monitoring in the implementation of programs. Furthermore, I have followed up the implementation and monitoring of purchases; by considering applications and initiate the procurement process for equipment, goods and services office and ensure transparency based on quality / cost ratio.

My work as Field Associate at UNHCR/Tindouf, Algeria has added to my competence in addressing community-based development and protection issues. I have closely worked with program, protection and field units at the sub-office and with partners and local authorities. Designed and developed strategies with various associations and groups in addressing livelihood, education, health and projects. The field unit was an important instrument in conducting the Age Gender Diversity Mainstreaming exercise (AGDM) which is the key element to plan for potential projects and activities. In addition, I have contributed in developed standard operating procedures for Sex Gender Based Violence (SGBV).  Moreover, I have engaged in training by being a facilitator and co-facilitator for many years through workshops and focus group discussions in various issues related to community development-based approach.

My work centred also on the social and economic development of vulnerable persons through the establishment of income-generating projects such as: soap making, pottery, handicrafts, literacy, and small farms, for the promotion of self-reliance.

Most of the above-mentioned programs were designed based on a bottom-up community development approach using the Participatory Rural Appraisals (PRA) methodology that allow community participation of different and diversified target groups in various stages of project cycle, i.e. planning, implementation, evaluation, and taking corrective measures that enhance sustainability and increase sense of ownership.

Aside from the above mentioned relevant experiences and competencies that I possess for this particular post, I am familiar with project development context, that will help me to communicate, understand, assess, and design appropriate interventions.

Please note that on top of my qualifications and work experience; I have a personal interest in relief management for people in need, refugees, internally displaced persons, human trafficking that I would like to continue within my professional life endeavours.
