Our mission is to provide quality, compassionate health care and education in a dignified environment while also addressing the root causes of illness, poverty, violence, and neglect.
Village Health Works operates in a rural area of southwestern Burundi, centered on the village of Kigutu. Our campus is seven miles from the nearest paved road and three hours south of the country’s largest city of Bujumbura. We serve a population of approximately 200,000 people, receiving patients mostly from three provinces — but also from as far away as Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
