Position: Country Director for Ethiopia
Contract Length: 2 years with the possibility of extension
Country Programme: Ethiopia
Base: Addis Ababa or Hawassa (approx. 50-50) with frequent travels other regions where required
Line Manager: Regional Director for Africa
People in Need (PIN) is an international, non-profit organization providing humanitarian and development assistance around the world. Present in Ethiopia since 2003, PIN has directly implemented numerous humanitarian and development projects across five regions of the country, mainly focusing on emergency and development WaSH, Shelter, Food Security, Agriculture, Education and Job creation interventions (funded by BHA (USAID); DG ECHO; FCDO; UN OCHA; Czech government etc.). The overall annual budget of Ethiopia country programme is about 4.7 mil EUR, it has more than 120 local staff and minimum of expatriates.
Country Director (CD) is responsible for the overall management and development of the mission and its employees (2 expatriates and over 120 nationals) and for PIN´s representation at the country level. CD supervises the mission’s programmes, finance, and administration as well as human resources; at the same time the CD is ultimately responsible for the security management of the mission. A considerable part of the CD’s responsibilities consists of medium and long-term tasks such as strategic planning, implementation of best practices and procedures, strengthening country programme´s management and structure, employee capacity building, donor relationship management, and advocacy.
