Nutrition International (NI) formerly Micronutrient Initiative, is a Canadian based International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to improving the health and nutrition of mothers, children and adolescents. NI implements high impact and low-cost nutrition interventions in Nigeria. The vision of NI is a world where everyone, everywhere is free from malnutrition and able to reach their full potential. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for Senior Program Officer Child Health and Nutrition – Zinc and Supply Chain Management to be based in Abuja, Nigeria.
About you
You will have a master’s degree in/or child health, reproductive health, nutrition, nursing, health sciences, food sciences and public health. Training in epidemiology is desirable. At least 5 years’ work experience in child health, reproductive health and public health, nutrition, food sciences and/or related field in Nigeria or elsewhere. Experience in program/project implementation/supervision, monitoring and evaluation at State or LGA levels in Nigeria. Experience with micronutrient programs is desirable. Excellent interpersonal, presentation and report writing skills. Good written and spoken English.
About the role
In this role you will be:
· Supporting the Program Director and regional office team with information necessary for designing and developing of country plans, budgets and proposals.
· Providing regular situation analysis update regarding therapeutic zinc program and supply chain programming in Nigeria and NI supported States in particular.
· Developing annual workplans and budgets for the diarrhea management project/GIC including DRF scheme support in line with NI procedures and regional guidance.
· Reviewing and analyzing technical and financial project reports from implementing partners and ensure that remedial actions are taken to ensure that project are in track and NI funds are properly used.
· Ensuring data monitoring plans are timely implemented, project monitoring data is collected, and the data workbooks are regularly updated.
· Developing quality monthly and quarterly and annual performance monitoring (both technical and financial) reports and ensure challenges are identified and recommended corrective actions are timely implemented.
· Participating in the design of research and evaluation activities for CHN and PSM projects and work closely with researchers and external evaluators to ensure research and evaluation exercises are feasible and respond to project and MoH needs.
· Building and maintaining good collaborative relations with Federal and State MoH, SPHCDAs, other government agencies, UN agencies, and other NGOs to promote information sharing and effective coordination of effort to improve and sustain effective and efficient use if Low Osmolar ORS and Zinc in the treatment of diarrhea in children.
