Job Title: South Sudan Programme Manager (Consultant)
Duration of contract: Six (6) months with possibility of extension

Project Background
In 2016, KYNE started a collaboration with The Carter Center to design and implement a communications campaign for Guinea worm disease (GWD) eradication. The campaign promotes the reporting behaviour required to unlock a cash reward to enhance surveillance for cases, as well as key GWD preventive behaviours, in the remaining four endemic countries: Chad, Ethiopia, Mali and South Sudan.
The Guinea Worm Eradication Programs (GWEP) in the four remaining endemic countries are responsible for overseeing the eradication program in country, and the successful post-holders will be integrated into this structure.
The Role
Mr. Makoy Samuel Yibi is the Director of the South Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication Program (SSGWEP). As lead technical advisor regarding the communication strategy/technology the Programme Manager will work closely with the Director, SSGWEP and staff, regarding the implementation of the SSGWEP, “It Pays to Report Guinea Worm,” communications campaign. He/she will design a strategic implementation plan utilizing the various campaign tools (i.e., flip book, posters, song, radio drama, social drama), and oversee effective dissemination. The Programme Manager will also work closely with KYNE’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Manager to lead on data collection ensuring that data is collected, collated and delivered in a timely manner, in accordance with agreed milestones.
The post holder will build excellent rapport and effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders within the SSGWEP Secretariat. He/she will act as the primary liaison person between the SSGWEP Secretariat and KYNE. He/she will also engage proactively with other health actors in South Sudan, and individuals in key media outlets to ensure effective media coverage of the campaign. As a Carter Center-KYNE hire, the incumbent will be subject to the administrative norms, including the code of conduct of The Carter Center for technical advisors in South Sudan.
Together with the other KYNE Programme Manager in Juba, and KYNE colleagues in Europe and the USA, this hire will form part of a global team. He/she will effectively communicate about the campaign progress to the rest of the KYNE team and flag any areas of concern immediately.
This is a dynamic role, and the post holder will be expected to be both proactive and reactive, according to changing country contexts.
