The Pan African University (PAU) is a continent-wide initiative of the African Union Commission (AUC) to revitalize higher education and research in Africa. It is aiming to exemplify excellence, nurture quality, and enhance the attractiveness and global competitiveness of African higher education and research. The thematic institutes of the PAU are located in all regions of the continent and offer Master and PhD programs in five thematic fields (Water and Energy; Science, Technology and Innovation; Social Sciences; Life and Earth Sciences).
GIZ is providing advisory and capacity building to the Department of Human Resources, Science and Technology of the African Union Commission (HRST) and the PAU Rectorate to strengthen the overall PAU structure.
