Internship Description
RTI International seeks a Communications and Learning Support intern to assist the Senegal GOLD team. The USAID/Governance for Local Development (GOLD) is a five-year project designed to strengthen Collectivités Locales ability to improve basic services in health, education, water and sanitation, and food security, working 50 communes and 13 départements throughout Kedougou, Kolda, Sediou and Tambacounda regions in Senegal. The project supports Development Objective 3 of USAID/Senegal’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS): More effective citizen participation in the management of public affairs at the national and local levels. Activities are mutually reinforcing interventions that strengthen different building blocks of good governance and service delivery by building a culture of collaboration and openness among all stakeholders.
The successful intern will assist by collecting project success stories, interviewing the field team to document and share project work and successes, and collaborating with local staff and the home office team to incorporate success stories into various reports and future documents. Additionally, the successful intern will document the learning agenda, work with the M&E field expert and home office team to collect data, analyze, begin reporting on the project’s learning questions. This will include documenting the process for planning, coordination, stakeholder buy-in, and adaptation, among other things. This may involve interviews, review of existing documents, facilitated meetings and other activities with both project staff and other stakeholders. The intern will also assist with the development of toolkits and implementation guides for GOLD’s toolkit. The scope can also grow and expand with the intern’s interest in the project and field work, as well as the projects needs at the time.

This unpaid internship, located in Senegal, will begin in June 2019 through August 2019. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week. Hours and days can be flexible during business hours (9.00am-5.00pm, Monday through Friday).
